H.M.G. have at present over 86 riders and 119 bikes on our register, one up from a few months ago, riding a variety of machinery from Manx Norton’s to Gold Stars, Ducati's, Triumphs, BSA’s, Velocettes, Greeves, Moto-Guzzi's, Egli Vincent, Montessa, Vincent Black lightning, AJS,s, Matchless's, Kawasakis, Suzukis, Yamahas, Tritons, Seely and of course Hondas etc, as well as more exotic machinery, such as Yamaha TZ750, Rob North Triples and a Metiesse. We now have a G50 up and running and a 7R. Ian Groat together with John Boswell the bike builder have a G50 Wagon Wheel up and running.

Lofty Pretorius has completed a Jawa 350cc, of which there are only a couple left in the world.

There is a brand new race track operating off the Witbank highway near Delmas and very proffessional in its approach.

The Historic Motorcycle Group takes part in parades and demonstrations at specific tracks throughout South Africa. These include, Kyalami, Wesbank, Phakisa, Zwartkops, Midvaal, East London GP track and the Killarney track in Cape Town. With Red Star Raceway now operating, we will be riding there as well.

The selected machines in the group are all manufactured prior to end December 1975 and most have racing histories.
Some of our older machines took part in racing events prior to the Second World War.

Group 'B' riders joined us for the first time to get to know existing members and set up group 'B' for future events.

This is Bronwen McKerchar riding her fathers newly built Yamaha.

 The criteria for inclusion to allow a specific motorcycle to appear are;

•Must be manufactured prior to the end of December 1975.
•Magnesium wheels only by special dispensation. Spoke wheels the norm.
•The make and model was originally designed to allow owners to take part in race meetings and sporting events.
•The rider must wear a "D' ring full-face helmet and gloves. We recommend one or 2 piece leathers.
•All selected machines must pass scrutineering, as would any other machine before being allowed onto the racetrack.
